JOB SUMMARY
Oversee and support the workers who maintain and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mobile equipment as well as facility systems.  Supervisor will be responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determine what installation or repair services need to be performed and work closely with the maintenance planner through completion.

 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Duties
  • Assist in establishing priorities, goals and expectations to the maintenance planner for planning purposes
  • Overtime as needed during the week, and weekends as needed
  • Facilitate the morning toolbox meeting, discussing safety topics
  • Assigns daily work orders
  • Works closely with tool crib personnel to maintain adequate inventory of tools, supplies and parts to repair all equipment in a timely manner
  • Maintenance shop, tool crib and all work areas are kept clean, tools are put back at the end of each day and/or completion of the job
  • Conduct audits on fixed and mobile plant machinery weekly for any safety concerns, including missing/damaged guarding, trip hazards, non-functioning lights, anything broken, exposed wiring and housekeeping.  The areas include:  Commercial/Retail Recycling, Roll/Maintenance Shop, Fab Rebar, Tool Crib and Mill (Mondays)
  • Enter planned/urgent work requests through Express Maintenance
  • Enter parts and/or service requisitions through Ezkinview system
  • Plant mobile equipment Pre-shifts are completed and turned in each week (Inventory Clerk)
  • Proper follow-through on all maintenance issues from start to completion
  • Work with maintenance team and other technical personnel to develop a proactive and effective team to attain set objectives
  • Daily walks to inspect and ensure team members are working safely, being productive and staying on task
  • Encouraging and promoting a safe and productive work culture 
  • Ability to approve Overtime
  • Give direct reports instruction and assign work activities 
  • Authority to send direct reports home during scheduled work hours; i.e., no work, insubordinate, or other reasons that deem necessary
  • Discipline
  • Complete safety incidents properly and in a timely manner
  • Authorize or decline requests for time off based on company needs and workload
  • Maintain Time and Attendance using our Paycor software system
  • Ensures compliance to company safety, security standards, procedures and policies
  • Ensures all personnel wear and utilize all safety equipment correctly as needed

Qualifications & Experience
  • At least two years of experience as a Supervisor in an industrial environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
  • Ability and skills to work as a team
  • Reliable
  • Effective leadership skills and ability to lead a team to achieve positive results
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations
  • Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screening

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, bend, lift and walk on a regular basis
  • Must be able to use computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, keypad on a regular basis
  • Must be able to utilize telephone and two-way radio
  • Must be able to walk and stand 95% of the day

Environmental Requirements
  • Warehouse and scrap yard environment
  • Exposed to outdoor elements, including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, odor and noise
  • Exposed to large mobile equipment, internal and external traffic
  • Dirt roads

Working Conditions
  • Concrete floors and driveways 
  • Required common PPE, safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection and hard hat
  • Sounds, potential high noise levels
  • Frequent contact with others
